Angela M. Fraser, Ph.D.Dr. Fraser is an Associate Professor/Food Safety Education Specialist in the Department of Food Science and Human Nutrition at Clemson University. She is responsible for the development of food safety programs for consumers and the retail food industry. Dr. Fraser is actively involved in many state and national committees. She has served as an academic consultant for the 2000 Conference for Food Protection (CFP) and serves as a member of the CFP Food Manager Training, Testing, and Certification Committee. She is also on the planning team for the third National Food Safety Education Conference to be held in Atlanta, Georgia in March 2010. Dr. Fraser has established linkages with state agencies, such as the SC Department of Education and the SC Department of Health and Environmental Control; federal agencies, such as the USDA Food Safety Inspection Service and the FDA. She is actively collaborating with seven land-grant institutions on a variety of food safety education projects. Dr. Fraser has secured over $1.8 million in competitive grant dollars to develop and evaluate food safety education programs. Her most recently funded project is "Identifying Food Safety, Sanitation, and Hygiene Practices in Child Care Centers in NC and SC." Dr. Fraser has worked in the area of food safety education since 1987, having held government, teaching, and extension positions. She received her B.S. in Dietetics in 1984, an M.S. in Institutional Administration in 1987, and a Ph.D. in Food Science in 1995. All of her degrees were earned at Michigan State University. Before coming to Clemson University, she worked as an Extension Specialist at NC State University and at Michigan State University. She was also a Lecturer in the School of Public Health, University of Michigan. Before earning her Ph.D., Dr. Fraser worked as an Environmental Health Specialist for six years in the State of Michigan.
