Are steam canners recommended for processing home canned foods?

Rating: 33

Steam canners are not recommended because processing times for use with current models have not been adequately tested. Steam canners do not heat jars in the same manner as the boiling water bath so using boiling water bath processing times may be inadequate and result in food spoilage.
