Are buckled and dented canning jar lids that have been properly processed safe to eat?

Rating: 63

If the screw band is tightened so tightly that air cannot be vented during processing, the lid may buckle, crimp or look dented on one side. This is because the pressure of the air trying to escape from the jar was strong enough to bend the lid. These may seal but often will come unsealed at a later date.
