Is it safe to can foods in the oven or in the dishwasher?

Rating: 0

People have tried to seal products in jars by putting them into an oven or through a dishwasher cycle. Neither of these methods is a safe way to process food. Contact with dishwasher water does not adequately heat the food. At ten pounds pressure the food in a pressure canner reaches 240 degrees F. People think that heating food in an oven at 350 degrees F. is higher than 240 degrees F. But, remember that at sea level pressure, (the pressure in the house and stove at sea level) the food will only get to boiling temperature of 212 degrees F. in the oven. And, there is danger of jars exploding in the oven, a very dangerous prospect.
