How hot should the water temperature of a dishwasher reach?
It is recommended that water entering the dishwasher be at 140 degrees F. as it enters the dishwasher. It is easy to check. Place a candy or other thermometer in a glass and let it fill with water from the faucet nearest the dishwasher. Let the water run into the glass until the temperature stops rising. If the water is below 140 degrees F., have the water heater adjusted. PREPARED BY: Angela M. Fraser, Ph.D., Associate Professor/Food Safety Specialist, and Carolyn J.
