A consumer pulled the shuck down just far enough to remove some of the silks then placed it in zip-lock bags and put in the freezer. Is this safe?
Do not freeze any un-shucked corn. I would consider the corn to be un-shucked corn. The reason is that it might result in off-flavors and blanching might not destroy the enzymes. It might also be unsafe. Pathogens can survive in the area between the kernels and the husk of corn. During thawing, these pathogens can grow, if the product is not refrigerated during thawing.
