How can I remove the acid taste from home canned tomatoes?
Some of the acid flavor can be offset by adding sugar or by diluting it with water. I would suggest that the acidic tomatoes be used in a sauce where they will be mixed with other ingredients so the acidity of the canned tomatoes will not be as noticeable. If the consumer would like to eat the canned tomatoes alone, he can rinse them and/or add sugar.
