Are buckeyes (or horse chestnuts) edible?
No. Buckeyes or horse chestnuts are POISONOUS. The leaves, young sprouts, and entire seed contain the glycoside esculin. Symptoms include nervous twitching of muscles, weakness, lack of coordination, dilated pupils, vomiting, diarrhea, depression, paralysis and stupor. PREPARED BY: Angela M.
