What should I do with jars of canned food in which the lids become unsealed?

Rating: 90

Lids that become unsealed during storage of canned foods indicate spoilage. Throw out the food. Buildup of pressure in the jar from gases produced by microorganisms causes the lid to become unsealed. The microorganisms are present because the product was mishandled, under-processed or the jar or lid was defective.
