How long can the canning jars be kept and used safely?

The sealing compound on lids may become hard and dry if they are kept for a long period of time. If the sealing compound is still soft, they should seal. A reasonable length of time to keep lids is no more than three years. The conditions under which they are stored will determine their storage life. Store in a cool dry place.
