What makes oil become cloudy and appear to have sediment in it?

Rating: 95

When oil is stored in the refrigerator (to prolong shelf life) it may become cloudy and appear to have sediment in it. This is because some of the saturated fats become solid when the temperature is decreased. It will become clear again when warmed to room temperature.
